Vanda Černohorská, Ph.D., focuses on gender inequalities from an intersectional perspective, particularly in relation to digitalization, social resilience, and the production of expert knowledge and innovations. She is currently based at the Centre for Science, Technology, and Society Studies at the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences, where she researches the impact of digital technologies on the perception of time and well-being (TIMED, 2021–2025) and how inequalities in science act as a barrier to knowledge innovation (TRUST, 2025–2028). Additionally, she investigates the production of gender expertise in times of crisis and post-crisis recovery (CORE, 2023–2028) at the National Contact Centre for Gender & Science at the Institute of Sociology of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
In recent years, she has examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and related policies on existing gender inequalities and explored the effects of European Structural Funds on gender equality. Her doctoral research focused on the relationship between digital technologies and the contemporary feminist movement in the CEE region. Her other research interests include qualitative methods, multidisciplinary approaches in social research, and co-creation practices related to gender-sensitive policy design. She was awarded a Fulbright grant and spent 2015–2016 as a Visiting Assistant in Research at the Yale Center for Cultural Sociology. Since 2013, Vanda has worked in the NGO sector both in the Czech Republic and abroad (Turkey, Northern Iraq), focusing primarily on migration issues and women’s rights. Between 2020 and 2024, she served as Chair of the Gender Expert Chamber of the Czech Republic. As of 2024, she has also been Chair of the Committee on the Institutional Framework for Gender Equality, an advisory committee of the Government Council for Gender Equality.
